Following a successful meeting to propose a Political Geography study group within the IAG, as well as a vibrant panel discussion with political geographers across Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand, and several political geography sessions spanning two days at the annual conference, we are keen to continue the momentum towards submitting a proposal for a study group to the IAG.
During this time, we have also had statements of support from scholars in Aotearoa/NZ, North America, and Singapore, as well as support from current and former IAG councillors, and scholars across Australia.
For a study group to be approved, as a first hurdle, it requires a minimum of 15 current financial IAG members.
Please could you add your name and affiliation to the list if you are in support of the development of a political geography study group within the IAG, and would like to be involved, should the proposal be approved. The list can be accessed in the following link: https://unsw-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/z3513886_ad_unsw_edu_au/EXIghIU2N7JIoa0wPNh4x7AB3CvgbOYrC8D71RqwrglDTA?rtime=TXcSD9lE2Ug
Following this step, we will then develop and submit a full proposal, following the IAG guidelines that can be viewed here: https://www.iag.org.au/study-groups
Feel free to share this with colleagues who may also not be on the IAG list, and please be in touch if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew Burridge (Macquarie University) and Marilu Melo Zurita (UNSW)
